Capabilities & Capacities
Kimes Steel & Rail operates a full-service steel manufacturing facility in New Haven, West Virginia. Under one roof, we roll, forge, machine, and fabricate steel components for railroad, industrial, and construction applications.
Rolling
Our 16" Morgardshammar rolling mill is a 3-high configuration with 5 stands, driven by a 2,100 HP DC motor. We roll rounds, squares, flats, and special shapes from 1/2" to over 16" in width. We produce ASCE rail sections from 12 lb to 85 lb, gauge rods, and custom steel profiles.
Hot Forging
We forge hook bolts, anchor bolts, rail clips, and specialty hardware. Our forging operation shapes hot steel into the demanding geometries required for railroad track components and industrial applications.
Threading
We thread gauge rods, bolts, studs, and anchor bolts in-house. Our threading capabilities cover standard UNC threads from 1/2" through 1-1/4" diameter, including both single-end and double-end configurations.
CNC Machining
Precision CNC machining for components requiring tight tolerances. We produce machined rail joints, custom fittings, and specialty parts to customer specifications.
Manual Machining
Our machine shop includes lathes, mills, and drill presses for general machining, repair work, and prototype development.
Pressing & Stamping
We press and stamp rail clips, tie plates, and other flat components. Our pressing capabilities handle the high forces needed to form hardened steel track hardware.
Sawing & Cutting
Rail cutting, bar cutting, and precision sawing to length. We cut ASCE rail in lengths from 5' to 40' and bar stock to customer specifications.
Bending
Rail bending and bar bending for curved track, guard rails, and custom fabrications.
Welding & Fabrication
General welding and steel fabrication services for custom assemblies, repair, and specialty projects.
Quality & Compliance
All products are manufactured to AREMA, ASTM, and customer specifications. We maintain material traceability and provide mill test reports as required.
